What is the Abergavenny Meditation Community?

Abergavenny Meditation Community (AMC) is a group designed to help people learn about and practice meditation. The group is run by Ben and Tara Henriques and holds regular meetings in Abergavenny. Please see the Upcoming Events page for details.

Is AMC a Buddhist group?

Anybody is welcome to attend AMC sessions, regardless of faith or belief. The practices we do are solidly rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition but are open to all.

Why Meditate?

Meditation reduces stress, improves our health and brings peace of mind. It can be practised at any time and allows us to cope with difficult moments. This group is about using meditation in daily life to overcome problems and turn them into opportunities.

Where do our meditation practices come from?

The meditations we do are all part of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Over hundreds of years, meditators in India and Tibet developed powerful methods for overcoming human suffering and dissatisfaction. Many people have found that developing awareness and compassion through meditation they are able to overcome problems and transform them into opportunities.
